New York Enacts Structured Settlement Protection Act
New York has joined other states to safeguard the interests of plaintiffs when factoring companies seek to purchase their structured settlements in exchange for lump-sum payments. According to Assemblyman Mark Weprin, plaintiffs are deprived of the long-term security that structured settlements are designed to provide.
